Members of Empower, Protect and Include Children (EPIC) Advocacy Group reminisce how their group started and the many activities they conducted amplifying calls to promote children’s rights and welfare at Barangay E Rodriguez Sr. In Cubao, Quezon City. Barangay E. Rodriguez Sr has been home to a passionate and dedicated children advocacy group for the past 7 years. The group was born out of their desire to create a safe and inclusive environment for children in their community. Guided by their parents belonging to Inay’s Love, another community-based organization, committed to pushing for change and making sure that all children are protected and provided with the same opportunities as their peers.
Since then, the group has grown in membership and activities that they conduct in the community. They focus on empowering children and giving them a voice in order to make sure their rights and well-being are respected. This includes conducting workshops on children’s rights, actively advocating for protection measures and policies, organizing educational activities, creating safe spaces for young people to express themselves, and more. They also partner with other non-profit organizations in order to spread their message further.
Though the pandemic affected the regularity of their advocacy activities, the group remains an important part of the community and they continue to work to ensure that all children in Barangay E Rod enjoy their rights and protected from all forms of abuse and exploitation. #safercitiesforchildren
