Disaster Risk Reduction and Management-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
is a crucial initiative designed to address the urgent need for effective disaster risk reduction and management in communities that are disproportionately affected by the effects of climate change. According to the World Risk Report 2021, the Philippines ranks as the 2nd most disaster-prone country globally, with an average of 20 typhoons yearly. Additionally, climate change is causing more frequent and severe natural disasters in the country, making it even more critical to implement effective disaster risk reduction and management programs.
Lingap Pangkabataan’s program strategies, including Child-focused Community Development, Child-focused Church and Community Mobilization, Enhancing Children’s Capacities for Advocacy and Participation, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, are all guided by a shared vision of self-reliant communities where children live full, healthy lives.
Lingap believes that promoting and defending children’s rights and welfare is the inherent responsibility of families and communities themselves, and our programs work to restore power to these groups, especially the poor and marginalized. With active engagement from Christian churches and local government units, Lingap Pangkabataan implements various community development projects that address the unique needs of communities, while promoting active participation, leadership, and governance.
Investing in Lingap’s programs means contributing to significant impacts in the lives of children and their families. Our holistic approach to development, including education, livelihood, and community building, ensures that the needs of the whole community are addressed. With Lingap’s commitment to empowering communities to take control of their own development, supporters can help secure a better future for these communities and their families.
