Lingap Pangkabataan, Incorporated and its local church partners, together with World Health Organization [WHO]-Philippines amplified calls to protect religious leaders and communities from the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a virtual session on COVID-19 Prevention! #FaithAndAction held on May 20, 2021, resource persons from WHO-Philippines facilitated sessions to jumpstart the learning series which aims to 1.) build capacity of church and community partners, 2.) create communication strategy and advocacy to prevent COVID-19 among faith-based groups and, 3.) come-up with a collective response among faith-based organizations to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 in the community.
The event, held via Zoom with simulcast via Facebook Live to accommodate more participants, served as a venue to answer questions and clarify concerns on COVID-19 prevention and response. The number of participants and their many questions reflect our hunger for accurate information about COVID-19 even after more than a year into this pandemic.
The next session will be this July and other virtual sessions thereafter to help local church and community partners to identify and consolidate a collective response in preventing further transmission of the disease in their communities.
