Among the projects under CCDP is the Situation-Oriented Approach to Early Childhood Education or SOAECE. SOAECE is a developmentally appropriate program developed by Lingap in 1987 and an adaptation from then West Germany’s Preschool Social Education Curricula named Situation-Oriented Approach. It is a strategy both pragmatic and progressive, in approaching the young child’s education.
SOAECE is cross-culturally viable as the processes of learning and experiencing are drawn from the life situation of the children, using indigenous materials, within their social context. Parents are competent partners in educating their children, hence, they participate in the program’s educational practices.
SOAECE is implemented through center-based, home-based or supervised neighborhood playgroups and other alternative delivery modes of learning especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Another vital component of CCDP is Sustainable Economic Empowerment and Development or SEED which supports the establishment of social enterprises, and self-help groups and provides capacity-building opportunities to develop livelihoods. This component aims to increase the economic opportunities of the communities while promoting social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
The program also fosters a sense of community among participants by promoting a Community of Practice. By sharing knowledge and skills, communities can work together towards a common goal of improving the lives of children and their families.
