Lingap Pangkabataan, Incorporated conducted a strategic planning workshop to chart the next years of the organization. The two-day event was held online on February 8 and 9, 2022, with the participation of various stakeholders, including children leaders, experienced development workers, and faith-based and community-based organization partners.
Lingap recognized the importance of nurturing and caring for the environment in which children live to better nurture and fulfill their rights. Over the past five years, Lingap Pangkabataan has gained the support of local churches, networks, and councils for the protection of children, making its programs key to its evolving development strategy. The organization’s governance structure is distinct from other non-profits in the Philippines, allowing for balanced representation and participatory discussions.
The shared vision of Lingap Pangkabataan for 2022-2026 is to create nurturing communities where children enjoy life in God’s abundance. The organization’s mission statement outlines its commitment to lead in child participation and advocacy efforts, implementing [facilitating] child-focused community development programs, networking and partnering with like-minded organizations, generating and optimizing resources for program sustainability, and promoting lifelong learning and community self-reliance.
The strategic plan was informed by an organizational assessment of the previous five years, focusing on key result areas such as resource mobilization and social marketing, child-focused community development, advocacy and child participation, human resource development, networking and linkages, and information and communication systems. A SWOT analysis was also conducted, summarizing the findings from the initial context discussions and detailed assessments of LPI’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Planning partners agreed on five-year goals and outcomes, including raising the capacities of community stakeholders for community empowerment, constructive engagement, and the realization of child rights and welfare. The organization aims to fully capacitate churches and community-based organizations, empower families to articulate their needs and concerns, and holistically develop children’s social and spiritual well-being, among others. These strategic results areas will guide the formulation of the operational plan and other aspects of administration and management, including staffing, organizational structure, financial sustainability, and designing community-based projects and programs.
Lingap core values of inclusiveness, accountability, competence, teamwork, respect, service, dedication, commitment, and loving and compassionate service underpin the organization’s efforts to ensure that disadvantaged children can live life in all its fullness.
Our recent strategic planning workshop is a testament to the organization’s commitment to fulfilling the rights of children in Metro Manila, Eastern Samar, Northern Luzon, and other areas in the future. With its shared vision, mission, and core values, the organization will continue to work towards creating nurturing communities where children can thrive and achieve their full potential.
